     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Senator Tom Harkin says four Iowa
airports will split more than $6.9 million in federal funding for
improvement projects. The largest grant is more than $5.3 million
for runway rehabilitation at Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.
    
     DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa House has approved a measure
requiring hospitals to notify police when a patient wanted for a
crime is released. It stems from the slaying of
Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas. The man convicted
in his death was admitted to a hospital after a police chase and
released the day before the shooting.
    
     DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Federal authorities in Des Moines say a
33-year-old man convicted in four armed bank robberies in October
faces at least 82 years in prison. A prosecutor says Jason Lee
Bowers robbed banks in Slater, St. Charles, Rippey and Oxford.
    
     DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Polk County authorities are holding two
Des Moines residents on $105,000 bond after confiscating more than
300 pounds of marijuana during a raid. Veronica May and Francisco
Marquez face several drug charges.
