Classic Hits 106.3's news director may be new to radio, but he's no stranger to finding the stories that capture life in your hometown. Bies earned his bachelor's degree at the University of South Dakota, where he wrote for the student newspaper, The Volante, then continued his education in English at St. Cloud State University. He returned to his native South Dakota and began an eight-year career at Argus Leader Media where he wrote about everything from cheesecakes to rock climbing.
After stints at both South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota as a communications professional, he joined the Classic Hits 106.3/ESPN Radio 1570 team in May so he could tell the compelling stories that embody life along the Missouri River Valley in South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.
When he's not interviewing a source, you'll find Bies in the cockpit of a kayak on the river.
