Nebraska has died in Afghanistan, less than a month after he

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A monthly report on the health of the economy
in Nebraska and eight other Midwest and Plains states comes out
today. The Mid-America Business Conditions Index is based on
surveys of business leaders and supply managers. The outlook for
the region remained positive last month, but the survey respondents
were less confident about their prospects over the next six months.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The Omaha World-Herald says it will now
accept paid announcements of weddings, engagements and
anniversaries from areas that sanction gay marriage. The newspaper
had come under a flurry of criticism for refusing to print a
lesbian couple's commitment notice. Publisher Terry Kroeger says
the World-Herald may have been slow to react to this issue, but
never hated gays and lesbians.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A former Omaha police officer will spend 30
days in jail and spend two years on probation for choking his wife
last December. Prosecutors say 41-year-old Sean Heyenga came home
after drinking and got into an argument with his wife. They say he
tried to strangle her, caused her to pass out and threatened to
kill her.
