DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, June 19th from 5:30 PM – 7 PM\, it’s time to fish with the Yankton Community Library and Missouri National Recreational River. It’s a fishing clinic for tweens and teens in grades 4-12 (teens must be under the age of 18 OR have a valid fishing license). This clinic is free but registration is required.  At the start of the program\, teens will learn some best practices for fishing while doing some catch and release fishing. DESCRIPTION:If you’ve ever wanted to learn some magic tricks you can try at home\, magician Jonathan May will be at the Yankton Community Library on Monday\, June 30 at 4 PM for a workshop that will teach youth simple yet amazing magic tricks with common items that can be found around the house. While this program is free\, registration is required and open to youth in kindergarten through 5th grade. Supplies to bring to the workshop include: deck of cards\, coin\, unsharpened pencil\, handkerchief or bandana\, a small box of crayons\, and a short string (12 inches or so; cooking or ‘butcher’ string\, or yarn will also work). Following the workshop at 6 PM folks of all ages are invited to Jonathan May’s Magic Show! You’re never too old or too young to enjoy a good magic trick.

DESCRIPTION:The Lesterville Fire and Rescue Firehouse is hosting their 7th annual Rib Cook-Off on Saturday\, July 19th at the Lesterville Fire Station\, 212 Main Ave. All teams are welcome to compete\, you don’t have to be a Fire Department to compete. Register for the Rib Cook-Off by contacting Andy at (605)660-0212. Cash prizes for the top three ribs. There will also be a pork loin meal with cold drinks starting at 11 AM\, with a bounce house and water fights for kids. Ribs will be served to the public at 4:30 PM. Enjoy great food\, raffles\, and cornhole while raising money for firefighting protective equipment and bunker gear.

Participants can build boats from home or at the library during designated boat-building workshops the week before the event begins.
