MEAD MUSEUM – A DAKOTA STORY
October 3 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Mead Museum will open its new permanent exhibit in the northeast wing of the building on Saturday, October 3rd at 1pm. A Dakota Story tells the history of Yankton, South Dakota, from its earliest beginnings! It covers important facts and events, the people and businesses from 1806-1970.
The 12 galleries feature over 600 artifacts: some beloved items that used to be in the Dakota Territorial Museum, and many never-before displayed! Call-outs to historic places and remnants that still exist offer an opportunity for visitors to spend time exploring our community.
A Dakota Story was written, designed and built by a team of staff, volunteers and The Sea Reach, Ltd design firm. The Mead Museum Exhibit Design Team included: Crystal Mensch, Exhibit Coordinator; Megan Hansen, Exhibit Curator; Robert Hahn, Exhibit Carpenter and Volunteer Team Members Jane Bobzin,Stan Hoffart, Lori Ibarolle, and Carol Ryan.
The Mead Museum is open weekdays 10am to 5pm. Hours are 1pm-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Go to www.meadbuilding.org for more information.
